Redhead’s director, Kylie Tate, began Redhead in April 2000 after a long career in Retail Buying though-out Auckland and Melbourne. From humble beginnings in a small office located in the third bedroom of Kylie’s home, Redhead was born from a passion and desire to create a women’s clothing label that had a unique and imaginative look. Tina Garratt, Redhead’s designer, pattern maker and Wonder Woman extraordinaire joined Kylie to create a brand that offered a unique and feminine look, was easy to wear and offered good value for money.

The label was launched 10 years ago and success followed. Redhead now sells to around 100 boutiques throughout New Zealand and Australia. As sales grew, so did the team of Redhead. Redhead currently employs a team of six. The Redhead team is small family who have worked together for many years. Kylie believes this is crucial to the success of the label. She says, “We all get on so well and share a common goal. This is the key to our wonderful label. We are all loyal, dedicated and happy in our work”.

Kylie goes on to say, “The clothes are beautiful in make and in quality because we design and make almost all of our garments here in New Zealand. We are proud of this fact. In identifying the essence of Redhead, we strive to combine its own fabric designs in clever and well cut styles. The looks are unique and imaginative and our designs are commercial and very wearable. The ranges are fun and reflect our New Zealand lifestyle. Our look is relaxed and feminine”.
